3D + PHOTOGRAPHY: THE PERFECT IMAGE
TO START ANEW
We believe CGI is the wave of the future. While it’s an incredibly useful method for creating imagery, it’s a transition into bigger, better, and even more interactive imagery like augmented reality and virtual reality.
But stop and think about where CGI came from. While an artist’s ability to create such realistic imagery and lifelike subject models takes creative skill, it also requires the mastery of one specific craft: photography.
The technical skills used in photography are necessary for CGI artists to create the high-quality imagery that is so sought after. CGI and 3D imagery are also becoming an extension of the traditional photographer’s toolset. The ability to manipulate images when the lighting just isn’t right, or a product needs to be added to an already-photographed environment opens doors for creatives across the imagery-creating spectrum.
THE REALM OF POSSIBILITIES
The flexibility of 3D possibilities when retouching or editing photographs allow for maximum creativity for artists and photographers alike. Adding, removing, or customizing elements of a photo at will lets the artist create the image exactly as it was envisioned to look without any compromises.
CGI gives photographers and artists the ability to push their creative skills to another level, while photography is the foundation of the 3D artist’s craft. Integrating the two and using the benefits of each to your advantage is a surefire way to create captivating imagery.
THE PERFECT PHOTO
As a digital content creation house, it’s expected of us to be enthusiastic about 3D, CGI, and everything in-between. With that being said, we’ll always advocate and appreciate the craft of standard photography. We don’t expect everyone, especially our clients, to only use CGI. And, despite its rising popularity, we know that in some cases, these two techniques can balance each other out to create the perfect photo.
Afterall, photography is the teacher, not the enemy.
