EXTERIOR RENDERINGS
IN A NEW LIGHT

SHARE THIS STORY:

Showing off the exterior of your homes is essential. If your buyers can’t fall in love with that curb appeal, they’ll be heading over to the next community or competitors’ website.

Our Exterior Renderings help you do that way before a home is even built. That means attracting new buyers early on and presales for you. SCORE.

BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE

Simply showing the front elevation isn’t enough for most buyers these days. They’re searching online before ever heading to your sales office, and they’re expecting to see all sorts of imagery: the outside, the inside, down the street, the community amenities, and more.

While they’re definitely expecting quantity, that doesn’t mean you can sacrifice quality. We’ve talked about how high-quality imagery is essential to show what your brand stands for and how lighting effects a 3D model. It’s time we bring those concepts together to talk about one of the most essential pieces of collateral for promoting your homes: Exterior Renderings.

5 DIFFERENT TIMES OF DAY

At MediaLab, we’re constantly honing our skills so we can give you the most photorealistic Exterior Renderings possible. That means days, weeks, months, and yes, even years, obsessing over the smallest details that make all the difference. Details like the texture of the mulch, the direction of the grass blades after you mow the lawn, the imperfections of plants and trees that make them look “natural”, and so much more (A LOT MORE).

This obsession with making the best possible images for you is how we came up with our Exterior Renderings shown at five different times of day. Those times of day are:

  1. Dawn (just after sunrise)
  2. Morning (just before 10 AM)
  3. Day (early afternoon)
  4. Indirect Day (afternoon with the sun behind the home)
  5. Dusk (just around sunset)

WHY LIGHTING MATTERS

You might be asking… but why? Why would you spend so much time on lighting? Why do I need to show my renderings at five different times of day?

Since you asked, we thought we’d give you five reasons why our lighting options are worth looking into:

1

DIFFERENT LIGHTING WORKS BETTER ON DIFFERENT CHANNELS.

Yes… it’s true! Many of our clients have already proven that they have more success posting a certain type of rendering on one channel vs. another. Since you all know we’re a fan of imagery speaking for itself, we’ll show you!

2

MULTIPLE IMAGES OF YOUR HOME WILL KEEP YOUR CONTENT FRESH.

Instead of using the same image over and over, you can now use various images to keep your content fresh. If a buyer is starting to fall in love with your home, they’re most likely going to research like crazy. When they do, showing these renderings at different times of day will keep their interest.

3

EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT LIGHTING PREFERENCE.

We all know that everyone has different ideas of what their perfect home looks like. We also know firsthand that everyone has a different idea of what the best artistic representation of that home is.

That could mean your internal teams discussing what single image represents your product best or your buyers second-guessing an image because of the way the colors look in direct sunlight. With numerous lighting options to work with, now you don’t have to stress about picking just one.

4

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MANAGE YOUR BUYERS’ EXPECTATIONS.

One of the biggest perks of seeing an elevation at multiple times per day is seeing how the colors and materials look in different lighting. Since the shadows will be in different places, this gives your buyers the opportunity to see how their future home will look no matter what time of day it is.

Some of our clients worry that when their buyers see a house for the first time and compare it to a rendering, the lighting may be different. They’re concerned that the colors or materials won’t exactly match and their buyer will get frustrated. Showing homebuyers (up front) what the home will look like at different times of day alleviates that.

THESE RENDERINGS CAN BE ANIMATED TO GRAB ATTENTION.

Animated and video content are proven to perform better on almost every channel. If you want your content to stand out, make it move. You can take these Exterior Renderings and do just that. Check it out for yourself!
