Yes… it’s true (and been proven) that being physically active nurtures productivity, creativity, brainpower, and happiness. Bonus: it also makes you more energetic. No more nodding off during those early AM meetings? COUNT. US. IN.
So how do you do it? We’ll tell you how…
MAKE IT WORK.
We’re all trying to balance family life with work responsibilities, some kind of fun downtime, maybe a little bit of relaxation, and possibly some sleep. How do you find the time to work out? It’s simple really. You don’t find the time. You have to make it.
KEEP YOUR WORD.
Schedule your workouts just like you would schedule an important appointment with a client or your boss, and do not cancel unless absolutely necessary. If something unexpected does come up, then reschedule immediately.
DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.
Should you work out in the mornings or evenings? There’s an easy answer: whatever time you can actually stick to.
CREATE NEW HABITS.
Remember, most people who get up at the crack of dawn to hit the gym aren’t “morning people”. Likewise, people who hit the gym straight from work aren’t necessarily excited about doing that instead of crashing into their comfy couch.
PLAN AHEAD.
Have your gym bag and prepped meals ready to go the night before so you don’t have to rush around in the morning trying to find what you need. Before your workout, also know exactly what your goal is for that session.
FORM A GROUP.
Find friends or coworkers with similar interests and common goals. They’ll keep you accountable and provide social interaction so that it feels less like a workout and more like a party.
KEEP PUSHING YOURSELF.
Reassess your goals weekly and keep pushing yourself a little more each time.
