LET’S KICK IT
Teamwork really does make the dream work.

KICKIN’ IT ON & OFF THE FIELD

There’s a lot of ways to get involved at MediaLab – from joining our volunteering committee to playing in the company foosball league. But sometimes, our team likes to get their kicks outside of the office. That’s why we started a rec soccer team five years ago. The first MediaLab sponsored sport, we’ve been going strong since its inception, with four seasons a year.

“It’s great exercise, and through this team I’ve become friends with my coworkers. Regardless of the final score, it’s a win-win!” – Ryan Hirsch, Client Services Team Trainer

DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS. ONE COMMON GOAL.

We’ve brought home a few wins in that time, and even braved an intermediate season, but the real reason we love it is the comradery across different departments. On our team you’ll find marketers, developers, account managers and more. While we all have different skill levels, (and a great captain to support us) we have one common goal…literally.

“I wanted to meet new people in the company and play soccer! Doesn’t get better than that, new people and the beautiful game!” – Andrew Milljour, Print Room Coordinator

IN THE NET(WORK)

Thanks to Club Sport, we’ve also had the opportunity to meet and play with people from all over Tampa. It’s a great chance to network with other companies in the league. You could say we’ve formed a little sub-community at Skyway Park; which is why we started having potluck dinners at the end of the season to commemorate a season well-played (even if we didn’t play that well). We celebrate our wins, chalk up our losses and joke about the amount of identical team t-shirts that have piled up in our closets.

“I started playing soccer just after I began working at MediaLab two years ago. Steve, our captain, talked me into it, even though I had never so much as kicked a ball before, figuring my track background would help. I’ve played every season since and I love it. I enjoy playing with coworkers I don’t usually get a chance to work with and getting all of my competitive energy out. Sometimes you’ll find us comparing battle scars in the breakroom the next morning. It’s a weird bonding thing.” – Elysia Pendezec, Creative Services Coordinator
